About

Connecting ndividuals involved in Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) and enabling them to access and offer essential services.

TrapperAid is a platform designed to centralize and streamline the TNR process through managing and coordinating all aspects of TNR. Our goal is to connect the TNR community while facilitating fundraising, scheduling, providing access to low-cost veterinary appointments, and working with local governments.

Why We Do It

Shelters and rescues are overburdened and unable to devote adequate attention or resources to feral cats, while local trappers do not have enough resources to address the cat overpopulation problem.

CAT OVERPOPULATION PROBLEM

500,000 feral cats
in NYC

Flatbush Cats, a nonprofit organization in Brooklyn, estimates that there are as many as half a million feral cats living in New York City.

+3,100 colonies
in NYC

Cat Stats NYC, a program from Neighborhood Cats, has a database of over 3,100 registered feral cat colonies throughout the five boroughs.

25% increase in
surrendered animals

The Animal Care Centers of NYC, New York City’s largest animal shelter, reported a 25% increase in surrenders by owners of dogs and cats in 2022. In late July 2023, the ACC reached "critical capacity" and could only accept cat surrenders in emergency situations or if they were a safety risk.

One female cat can produce 100 kittens in her lifetime

Per the Lynchburg Humane Society, one unfixed female cat can have more than 100 kittens in her lifetime. If half of those kittens born are females, she and her offspring can go on to have upwards of 300-400 kittens in 7 years.

How Can We Help

Solo cat rescuers, shelters, rescues, local governments, veterinary clinics, and rescue-related cat organizations can benefit from TrapperAid platform.

Upon registering with TrapperAid, cat rescuers can offer and gain access to essential resources, including:

  • Funds for spaying/neutering community cats and covering their medical treatment.
  • Holding spaces for cats before and after spaying/neutering.
  • Transportation for cats to veterinary appointments, holding spaces, and pick up/drop off services.
  • Assistance with trapping community cats.

TrapperAid can reduce the cat population and ease the burden of shelters and rescues.

  • Resource allocation: TrapperAid provides a list of available trappers, transportation options, and holding spaces, streamlining collaboration among the community.
  • Service scheduling: Use the platform to schedule TNR services at vet clinics and coordinate with volunteers for trapping, transport, and aftercare.
  • Data tracking: Record when, where, and what TNR services are being used to assess rescue allocation and support funding allocation.

TrapperAid can deliver data to local governments that evaluates where and how to allocate resources effectively.

  • Data-driven decision making: Use the platform’s centralized data to make informed decisions on resource allocation, public health strategies, and budget planning.
  • Monitoring and reporting: Access reports that outline TNR activities, costs, and impact to ensure city resources are utilized effectively.
  • Collaboration and partnerships: Work with TNR organizations, vet clinics, and community members to enhance TNR efforts and address the feral cat population crisis.

Register with TrapperAid as a veterinary clinic to facilitate your scheduling process and receive potential tax breaks.

  • Veterinary clinics can register their services on the platform, listing discounted TNR services.
  • Receive service requests directly through the platform, streamlining the scheduling process.
  • Potential tax incentives or subsidies for clinics joining the standardized pricing model, expanding the availability of discounted TNR services.

TrapperAid invites larger non-profit organizations and companies to join our efforts in tackling the cat crisis in NYC.

  • Data sharing and integration: Contribute to a centralized database with registered colonies, ongoing TNR activities, and service gaps.
  • Education and training: Provide resources and training for new TNR-certified individuals through the platform.
  • Collaborative initiatives: Partner with other organizations to identify high-priority areas for TNR efforts and allocate resources effectively.
